Finding My Glow: A Mom's Journey Back to Herself

Once upon a time, in the chaotic dance of motherhood, the sting of betrayal, and the solitude of single parenthood, I lost myself. The joy of raising little ones was there, but so was the weight of heartache and responsibilities.

In the midst of it all, I felt like I was drowning in roles—mom, betrayed partner, and solo navigator of life's twists and turns. Each day was a juggling act, and in the process, I forgot the woman who used to dream beyond these roles.

There were days after days when I didn't even know how many days I hadn't washed my face, combed my hair, and hadn't seen myself in the mirror. After my baby was born, I went through a lot of body shaming; all people could see was how I used to look. I remember an old friend, a girl from my school who had become a good friend. When she saw me in 2021, she said she couldn't even recognize me because she remembered how gorgeous I used to look back in those days. One day she told me, "Do you even see yourself in the mirror?" I had forgotten that I am a person who deserves to be loved and cared for. I myself could not recognize me.

Then came a moment of awakening, a realization that I needed to find myself back. It wasn't an easy decision. The pain of betrayal lingered, and the responsibilities didn't magically disappear, but I knew something had to change.

So, I started to take small steps. Moments of quiet reflection became my sanctuary. In acknowledging the pain and strength that coexisted within me, I discovered that finding myself wasn't selfish—it was an act of survival and self-love.

The journey wasn't a straight line. There were days when the weight of the past was still heavy, but with each step forward, I began to reclaim the pieces of me that were scattered. It was like gathering fragments of a puzzle, slowly putting it all back together.

This journey isn't just for me; it's a pursuit of becoming the best version of myself—for my daughter.

To every parent who, like me, got lost in the whirlwind of life's challenges, know that your journey is a story worth telling. In rediscovering ourselves, we rewrite our tales with colors of strength and vulnerability. It's not just about self-discovery; it's a courageous journey of reclaiming our narrative. Here's to the rediscovery of joy, self-love, and the incredible tale of the person we are becoming through it all.

Cheers!
